Area residents present ‘Aladdin, Magic Lamp’

The Saint Genesius Players (SGP) will present “Aladdin and the Magic Lamp” at 8 p.m. on June 23 and 30, noon and 4 p.m. on June 24 and July 1, and noon on June 25, at Sampson G. Smith School, Amwell Road, Somerset section of Franklin.

The show is completely staffed by youngsters and students under the age of 18. Director is Adam Alsamadisi, 16, of Bridgewater. Musical director is Christopher Sabol, 16, of Marlboro. Choreographer is Mandy Crawford, 11, of Linden. All cast members are under the age of 18.

“Aladdin and the Magic Lamp” is part of the SGP: Generations program, which attempts to bridge the gap between adults and youngsters.

All youth staff members are teamed with a mentor who will help them and teach them how to execute their jobs properly, while not doing the job for them.

Mentors include Holly Lessing of Martinsville, Melissa Leshchanka of New Brunswick, Christopher and Kenneth Guell of Old Bridge and Ed Weiss of the Parlin section of Sayreville.

Tickets, which cost $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, $8 for children under age 12, may be purchased in advance or at the door.
