Local student chosen for ambassador program

Daniel Lo Preto, of Manalapan, a student at Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, has been accepted into the People to People Student Ambassador Program, an educational travel program founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The program is based in Spokane, Wash., and has been coordinating educational travel for more than 50 years. Lo Preto will explore Italy, Spain and France for 20 days in the summer, and will earn academic credit while participating in a variety of activities.

Five-day fishing program for ages 13-15

The Monmouth County Park System will offer a five-day fishing program for teens ages 13-15. From 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 31 through Aug. 4, teens will spend time with a park system naturalist, fishing from charter boat, pontoon boat, canoe and from shore as they learn the when, where and how of catching fish. Participants will meet at the Huber Woods Environmental Center on Brown’s Dock Road, Middletown. The cost for the five-day program is $240 per person, and advance registration is required.
