Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold the following events:

“Good Morning Middlesex” will be held Sept. 14, with registration at 7:45 a.m. and networking at 8 a.m. The host is Princeton Sports Center, 1000 Cornwall Road. The cost is $25 for nonmembers, $20 for member walk-ins, and $15 for members.

An Employer Legislative Committee breakfast will be held Sept. 19, with registration, buffet breakfast and networking 7:45-8:15 a.m. and the program at 8:30 a.m. The program will be held at the Sheraton Edison Hotel Raritan Center, 125 Raritan Center Parkway. The cost is $20.

The Joint Chambers of Commerce will hold a “Business After Hours” event Sept. 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Attending will be the Middlesex Chamber, Highland Park Chamber, East Brunswick Chamber, Perth Amboy Chamber, and Woodbridge Metro Chamber. Host and sponsor is Middlesex County Department of Workforce Development, 506 Jersey Ave., New Brunswick. The cost is $25 for nonmembers, $20 for member walk-ins, and $15 for members. DeVry University, North Brunswick, has announced it will offer an associate of applied science (AAS) degree program in electronics and computer technology beginning next month. The program is designed to prepare students to enter the job market with skills to analyze, troubleshoot, install and maintain electronic systems. For more information, visit www.devry.edu.

Eileen Courtney, Somerset, president of the New Jersey Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9111, South Brunswick, recently led the state delegation of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW of the U.S. at its 93rd national convention in Reno, Nev. Courtney voiced the delegates’ votes during the election of national officers at the event, and played a key role in deciding the direction of the national organization for 2006-07. Convention attendees also collected items for troops stationed overseas.

Home Depot, 4095 Route 1, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, will be collecting used 20-ounce plastic soda bottles. The store has a TerraCycle “Eco-Pallet” featuring a cardboard receptacle where residents may deposit used soda bottles. TerraCycle Inc., Trenton, was begun by two students at Princeton University, and uses the bottles to package its TerraCycle Plant Food. For each bottle returned, TerraCycle will donate 5 cents to Lincoln School, New Brunswick, and other area schools to be confirmed. It will also donate 5 cents to Zerofootprint to offset the environmental effect of driving to and from Home Depot to drop off empty bottles.
