For the Record

A recent article in the News Transcript incorrectly made it appear that the reason why information that had been submitted by the Ancient Order of the Hibernians for broadcast on Manalapan’s municipal access cable TV channel had been rejected was due to controversy surrounding the group in regard to the New York City St. Patrick’s Day parade. In fact, Marc Levy, a member of the Cable Television Advisory Committee, told the Township Committee that the reason why the Hibernians’ information was rejected for broadcast was because the advisory committee had decided that items provided by a religious organization that were deemed to be recruiting information would not be broadcast on the municipal access channel. Levy said items of an event-oriented nature submitted by a religious organization (i.e., notice of a fundraiser) would be broadcast on the municipal access channel.
