Patricia Ann Acevedo

Mrs. Acevedo, 67, of Englishtown, died Dec. 1, 2006, at CareOne at Holmdel. Born in Birmingham, Ala., she lived in Staten Island, N.Y., before moving to Englishtown six years ago. She was a correspondence files administrator for Deloitte & Touche in Manhattan for more than 20 years before retiring in 2000. Mrs. Acevedo was predeceased by her former husband, J. Anthony Acevedo, in 1999. She is survived by a son, Robert Acevedo; three daughters and sons-in-law, Toni-Lynn and Joseph DiCaro, Tina and Thomas Galante, and Robin and Kevin Enderes; and nine grandchildren. Services were held at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Eleanor Lawrence

Mrs. Lawrence, 63, of Jackson, died Dec. 6, 2006, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Newark, she had resided in Jackson for the past four years. She was employed by Ocean County’s finance department, Toms River, for more than 10 years. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth W. and Allison Lawrence of Auburndale, Fla.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Dawn and Russell Taylor of the Clarksburg section of Millstone, and Kristin N. Bartlow of Seaside Heights; two sisters, Shirley Wallace of Blairstown and Dorothy Stockinger of Florida; three grandchildren; and her friend and former husband, James A. Lawrence. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, with the Rev. Dr. J. Francis Watson, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Freehold, officiating. Robert J. Pfleger Sr.

Mr. Pfleger, 81, of Lakewood and Pompano Beach, Fla., and formerly of Howell, died Nov. 23, 2006, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He was the owner of several businesses in the Monmouth County area, including the AdVisor Newspaper in Middletown; Adventure Travel, Middletown; and Rotary Offset Printing, Long Branch. Mr. Pfleger was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during both World War II and the Korean War, where he served on the first night torpedo squadron. He was a founder and board member of Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel; a communicant and past trustee of St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel; a member of the Knights of Columbus; a member and past president of the Middletown Lions Club; and a member of the Middletown Chamber of Commerce. He was voted Man of the Year at Camp Happiness, Leonardo. He was on the executive board of the Boy Scouts of America and was honored with the Silver Beaver Award. He was also a member of the Lighthouse Point Yacht and Racket Club and the Corinthians, both of Lighthouse Point, Fla. Mr. Pfleger was predeceased by a granddaughter, Courtney. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Madeline Braun Pfleger; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Robert and Michele, Martin and Ruthann, Richard and Annette, and Daniel; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Chuck; a brother, Edward; a sister, Dorothy Toliver; a brother-in-law and his wife, Victor and Waltraud Braun; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation and funeral services were held at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Catharine’s Church, with burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
