Millstone Township eighth-grader Danielle “Dani” Berkowitz recently won for her age group in the UnSigned Artists World Showcase contest held in Las Vegas. UPPER FREEHOLD – Township eighth-grader Danielle Berkowitz recently competed in a worldwide singing competition in Las Vegas and won her age group.
Danielle, who goes by Dani, sang “Part of Your World” from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” in the UnSigned Artists (USA) World Showcase contest. Her performance earned her a chance to win a $50,000 grand prize in the contest.
USA World Showcase offers the competition in search of unsigned talents throughout the world. According to the promoter, more than 40,000 people auditioned for the competition.
Dani was chosen as a finalist and competed for one of the 50 final spots along with approximately 150 others. The four judges, including an original member of the Beach Boys, listened to the contestants sing, dance, act, model and perform comedy. The top two individuals from each category were chosen to be part of the finalist group.
USA World Showcase will air the top contestants at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 on the “i” network, which is formerly PAX TV. Dani’s performance can also be viewed at www.usaworldshowcase.com.
After the show airs, there will be an online voting process from Jan. 8 until Jan. 20. The contestant with the most votes will be flown back to Vegas in June for a chance to win $50,000.
