YMCA project

completed
To the editor:

Great news! Last week, the South Brunswick Family YMCA received a certificate of occupancy for the renovated youth complex. The project was completed within budget and ahead of schedule.
The Y staff and board are excited about the new opportunities the Y will have to better serve the community. Winter II registration has already started — the winter sports programs will be using the youth complex beginning Jan. 22.
The renovation and upgrade project went better than expected. There are a number of people to thank including the contractor Wayne Keller of S & K Construction and the architect and South Brunswick resident Mike Soriano of Cornerstone Architectural Group. The board of directors, led by President Anthony Campisano, has been tremendous in their support of the project. A special thanks to Vice President Gary Forshner of Stark & Stark who handled all the legal work, pro bono.
Critical to the success of bringing in a project on time is the ability to work closely and effectively with township officials. I would like to personally thank Mayor Frank Gambatese and the council members for their support as well as Jim Dowgin of Code Enforcement and the various inspectors who advised and assisted along the way. It has been a great working experience.
Make plans to stop by the South Brunswick Family YMCA and take a tour of the expanded facility. There are so many new offerings and programs including an upgraded state-of-the-art fitness center and a 10,000-square-foot, climate-controlled youth complex that will be home for all indoor sports such as gymnastics, soccer, basketball, volleyball and much more. The teen center will provide an opportunity for teens and pre-teens to hang out, listen to music, have fun and enjoy playing computer games, pool, air hockey and table-top soccer. Summer camp is going to be a great experience.
The South Brunswick Family YMCA staff welcomes the community to come join in the fun at the expanded facility. Become part of our success. Don’t wait.

In last week’s letters to the editor, Ed Belding included me in his thanks for putting together "The Poets of South Brunswick" program. While this was kind of him, it is Hank Kalet’s knowledge and expertise that made possible such a fine program of poets. In addition, he and Jeff Leebaw, our chairman, work to publicize the monthly poetry readings. We appreciate Mr. Belding’s acknowledgment of the South Brunswick Arts Commission in sponsoring this poetry series, which like all our programs are a collaborative effort from all members and volunteers.
Further, we owe the South Brunswick Post a great deal of thanks for its publicity for all Arts Commission programs. We’re happy to see our audiences growing. We welcome all ages at the Jazz Café, poetry series, camera club, art exhibits and lectures.
