Anna T. Carifi Gargiulo, 80, of Monroe, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Care One Nursing Home in East Brunswick.
Born in New York, she moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1941 and lived there for 65 years, before moving to Monroe in 2006.
She was a school lunch aide for P.S. 130, in Brooklyn for 35 years, before her retirement in 2000. She loved to travel, and especially loved spending time with her grandson.
Her husband, Alfred J., died in 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Horowitz of Freehold; two sons, Daniel J., and Alfred C., both of Monroe; two sisters, Camille Sommer of Houston and Adelle DiGiovanni of Brooklyn, N.Y.; her grandson, Alexander H. Horowitz; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Monday, Jan. 15, from M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe, N.J. 08831. A Funeral Liturgy took place at St. James R.C. Church, Jamesburg, and was followed by interment at Pinelawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Pinelawn, Long Island, N.Y.
