Activities planned at Monroe Senior Center

A variety of upcoming programs will be offered at the Monroe Township Senior Center, 1 Municipal Plaza. For more information and to register for events, call the center at (732) 521-6111, unless otherwise indicated.

A free Bowling Party at Country Lanes, Route 33, Manalapan, is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 7. Registration forms, which are available at the center, must be returned by Feb. 2. Light refreshments will be included in the event. Participants must provide their own transportation. To sign up, call Jennifer at the center.

Advanced Beginners Bridge will begin at 1 p.m. on Feb. 8. Janet Wood will lead the 12-week class for individuals who already play but need reinforcement and a review of conventions and techniques. Course fee is $30. Enrollment is open. Space is limited. Advance registration required.

“Chef Joe’s Decadent Menu,” including flourless chocolate cake, is planned for 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 8. Space is limited. Advance registration requested.

“Healthy Heart Day: Lunch and Learn” is set to begin at 10:15 a.m. on Feb. 9. Blood-pressure screenings are available in the morning on a first-come basis. Two presentations by representatives of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, are set for 11:30 a.m. Michelle Moccio, M.S.N., will offer “Stroke: What You Need To Know.” Alan K. Tannenbaum, M.D., will present “How To Live a Heart-Healthy Lifestyle.” A boxed lunch is scheduled between the two lectures. Space is limited. Advance registration is required.

Dr. Debra DeMarco, chiropractor, will offer a “Heart-to-Heart” presentation at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 12. DeMarco, who will share techniques for living healthier, also will hand out free gift certificates in honor of St. Valentine’s Day.

Seniors are invited to “Hearty Creations” planned for 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 14. Participants will create four different crafts, from edible art to potpourri hearts. Advance registration is required. A $2 registration fee is required by Feb. 7.
