Applications for Breeders’ Cup tickets are available Monday

It’s still about six months away, but based on the level of anticipation reverberating throughout the Shore, now would be a good time to start thinking about applying for tickets to the Breeders’ Cup.

The 24th Breeders’ Cup, Thoroughbred racing’s year-end championships consisting of 11 races and $23 million in purses and awards, for the first time will be contested over two days of racing – Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 at Monmouth Park in Oceanport.

The arrival of the Breeders’ Cup is expected to expected to draw record crowds to the storied facility, as racing fans from around the world converge on Oceanport.

As a result, there is a process being implemented for purchasing tickets.

“The beginning of the ticketing process is another major step as we move forward to hosting the first Breeders’ Cup in New Jersey,” said Dennis Dowd, senior vice president of racing for the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority, which owns and operates Monmouth Park Racetrack.

“This event has been embraced by everyone from the local to the state level and I’m certain that when the world of racing converges on Monmouth Park, they will be treated to exceptional hospitality in the Garden State.”

Officials of Breeders’ Cup Limited and Monmouth Park Racetrack announced that ticket applications for this year’s Breeders’ Cup World Championships will be available beginning Monday, April 30.

Ticket applications may be obtained in the following ways:

+ Complete an online ticket application. Beginning April 30, go to the home page of either www.breederscup.com or www.monmouthpark.com and click on the Breeders’ Cup event logo to link to the ticket Web site and locate the online application.

+ Print a ticket application from the ticket Web site. A pdf version of the ticket application is available to print, complete and mail to: Breeders’ Cup Tickets, P.O. Box 503, East Rutherford, NJ 07073.

+ Request a printed application be mailed to you.

Breeders’ Cup Ticket applications must be received at Monmouth Park by Wednesday, June 6, to be included in a random drawing that will determine the order in which applications will be processed.

Applications received after the deadline will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis, dependent upon seating availability. Tickets will be limited to four per household. All seating, general admission and parking for Saturday, Oct. 27, must be pre-purchased – there will be no walk-up tickets sold that day.

Seating offered to the general public is located throughout Monmouth Park at prices ranging from $25 – $75 for Breeders’ Cup Friday, and from $100-$250 for Breeders’ Cup Saturday. General Admission will be offered for both days, but must be pre-purchased for Saturday. General admission for Friday, Oct. 26, will be sold at the gate that day for $10 (Grandstand) or $15 (Clubhouse). Parking on Breeders’ Cup Friday will be available in all cash lots. Parking for Breeders’ Cup Saturday must be pre-purchased; cash lots are not available that day.

Monmouth Park will host live racing from Wednesday, Oct. 24 through Saturday, Oct. 27. Tickets for seating on Wednesday and Thursday may also be pre-purchased. General Admission will be available on both those days for $5 (grandstand) or $10 (clubhouse).
