NJMSC to hold Ocean Fun Day May 19

The New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium (NJMSC), New Jersey Natural Gas and the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s Office of Maritime Resources will sponsor Ocean Fun Day May 19 at Island Beach State Park and May 20 at NJMSC’s headquarters on Sandy Hook.

Admission and all activities are free at both locations and the event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. It will feature exhibits, demonstrations, guided birding, beach eco-tours, fiddler crab races, and activities such as seining and seashore origami. There will be special tours of Battery Potter and the Nike Radar Site at Sandy Hook. Also at the event will be mascots Stella the Seastar or Pearl the Puffer. A free drawing will be held for a fun pack Jenkinson’s, Point Pleasant. Scout troops may also meet badge requirements at the event. Call the NJMSC at (732) 872-1300, ext. 19 or visit www.njmsc.org.
