RBR senior art show at SICA

LONG BRANCH – After four years of hard work and dedication, Red Bank Regional High School Visual and Performing Arts Academy seniors will display their works in one final show. The Commercial Art and Commercial Photography programs are joining forces for the second year to put together a professional gallery showing at the Shore Institute for the Contemporary Arts (SICA) in Long Branch.

The seniors have developed their skills since entering the program as freshmen and have come into their own as artists with the help of the VPA Academy at the Little Silver school. They come from all over Monmouth and Ocean counties.

The program allows students who are serious about their work to come from all over the region to work on their craft as a major throughout their high school careers.

The self-produced show is an opportunity for them to show friends, family and community members the progress they have made within the program, and to give back to the community.

Each artist will portray their unique style, creating a truly distinctive and eclectic show.

The subject matter includes pencil and charcoal, sepia- and selenium-toned prints, oil paints and pastels, Lazertran and digital images.

The show will be on display through June 3 at SICA, 20 Third Ave. An opening reception will take place 7-9 p.m. Friday, at which members of the public will have the opportunity to meet the artists.
