Frederick B. Pope Jr.

Mr. Pope, 82, of Freehold Township and Fort Pierce, Fla., died May 23, 2007, at The Manor, Freehold Township. Born in Augusta, Ga., he had lived in East Islip, N.Y., before moving to Freehold Township four years ago. He was a railroad supervisor for the Long Island Railroad for 24 years, retiring 22 years ago. Mr. Pope was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Spanish Lanes Golf Club, Fort Pierce. Surviving are his wife, Dorothea; two sons, Frederick Pope III of Doylestown, Pa., and Michael Pope of San Jose, Calif.; two daughters, Pamela Eubanks of East Islip, N.Y., and Susan Messina of Freehold Township; a brother, John Armstrong Pope of Augusta; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
