‘Shore Scenes’

"Beach Grasses" by Derek Buckner “Beach Grasses” by Derek Buckner Laurel Tracey Gallery in Red Bank is kicking off the summer season with a new exhibition, “Shore Scenes.”

The show features recent paintings and works on paper by Derek Buckner, Elwood Howell and Hannah Achtenberg.

Buckner maintains a studio in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he paints the urban landscape and it is the east end of Long Island where he continues his ongoing relationship with painting the land and sea.

Howell maintains a permanent residence in the East Hamptons, where he finds himself inspired by the surrounding seascape. His drawings and paintings in this series consist of dripped and flung color under the mist and gauze of an all-over transparent wash of blue-gray, rose-gray, green-gray of acrylic and pastel on paper.

Achtenberg paints en plein air focusing on the natural beauty of Long Island’s eastern shore and the landscapes of rural New England.

"Standing Tall" by Elwood Howell “Standing Tall” by Elwood Howell Laurel Tracey Gallery is located at 10 White St. Hours are Tuesday, 1-5 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sunday and Monday by appointment
