Annual ‘bash’ features Hawaiian theme

Third-grade students, teachers and parents may have thought they were on a tropical island Friday night as they enjoyed the annual Third-grade Bash at Weston School.
The school gym was turned into a tropical paradise complete with palm trees. The bash sponsored by the PTA is the last big event for the students who will be leaving the school after their four years of elementary education there.
Each year the third-graders vote and decide on a theme for the evening event. This year’s pick was a Hawaiian luau beach party. All the students andparents were able to come dressed in the beach/Hawaiian attire complete with grass shirts, sunglasses, hats, and tropical wear.
As a welcome to the bash, leis were given out to everyone as they walked in.
The best dressed boy Joey Mascola and best dressed girl Michelle Toth were the winners in the attire contest.
Everyone enjoyed a menu of hot dogs, luau meatballs, vegetables, cheese and crackers, snacks and desserts. Each student was given an autograph book and palm tree pen from the PTA to record their friends and their memories of Weston School.
Attendees spent the night dancing to the Macarena, Electric Slide and other popular dances to the music of Party Style DJ’s. They enjoyed a limbo and conga line, too.
A hula dance contest was held and one boy and one girl were the top hula champs. Brandon Ruzbarsky and Julie Ann Polakiewicz earned those titles after doing their best hula in a grass skirt. At the end of the night, all the students were given a bag of goodies as they left.
