Changes under way at Downtown Antiques

RED BANK – Downtown Antiques and Collectibles, a longtime fixture at 27 Monmouth St., is going to get a makeover. The most noticeable change is the name – Monmouth Street Emporium – the new name of the soon-to-be renovated space.

“We are changing our name to better reflect our shop,” said manager Kathy Kelsey. “For those who have been longtime customers, your favorites are still here, and we have added to our usual fare. For those who haven’t been here before, now is the perfect time to discover all we have.”

Located at 27 Monmouth for more than 14 years, the space is occupied by different dealers who offer a varied merchandise selection.

“Some of the original proprietors are still here offering a mix of the unusual and interesting, along with the beautiful and well-crafted items from the past. We carry a huge variety of just about everything,” Kelsey said. “Antique, mid-century reproductions and painted furniture, original artwork, new and vintage jewelry, glassware and china, vintage clothing and accessories including an assortment of interesting and unusual items.”

The next big change will be the renovation to the section of the space called the “wing.” While that is being upgraded, the rest of the shop will be open for business as usual.

Monmouth Street Emporium is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., with summer hours on Friday and Saturday evenings.
