Mayor an advocate for students, schools

Mayor Pasquale Menna has wisely decided to become Red Bank’s “Education Mayor.”

I especially appreciate his insistence that our school system and borough government work cooperatively.

I guess some people feel they must maintain an arm’s length relationship to avoid political interference. But, the schools did not get the political support they needed from our borough officials when this separation was maintained.

Our mayor and council approve those school budgets that are rejected by the voters. Why would we want “outsiders” making this decision?

Mayor Menna, please continue to advocate so eloquently on behalf of Red Bank’s schoolchildren.
