Flooding, mitigation to be topic of meeting

The Lawrence Brook Watershed Partnership is inviting government officials, regional land use planners and interested residents to attend its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 21 at the Milltown Senior Center, 60 Violet Terrace, Milltown. The guest speaker will be John A. Miller, P.E., CFM, who will give a presentation titled “Planning for Floods and Local Mitigation.”

Miller is the New Jersey president of the American Waters Resources Association and a regional director and board member of the Association of State Floodplain Managers. Miller serves on the New Jersey Governor’s Flood Mitigation Task Force and in many capacities regarding planning and storm water controls in Lambertville.

The meeting will include time for discussion and refreshments. The Lawrence Brook Watershed Partnership is a nonprofit volunteer organization with environmental interests in East Brunswick, North Brunswick, South Brunswick, Milltown and New Brunswick.
