• Cruise Nights/Car Shows, sponsored by Just Us Cruisers Classic Car Club, 6-9 p.m., in the parking lot at 1980 Route 35 North, next to F-1 Motoring, South Amboy/Sayreville. Family-oriented events feature more than 50 antique and classic cars from across the tristate area. Trophies, games, music from the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s. All proceeds benefit the Sayreville Brain Injured Children Association. Businesses invited to donate a trophy and have their names mentioned at the shows. • American Championship Wrestling, sponsored by Lyons-Schepsco Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1451, doors open at 6 p.m., at the post home, 31 Reid St. General admission is $10 for adults, $7 for children. A portion of the proceeds will go to Operation Uplink to provide soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan with phone cards to telephone their families and loved ones at home. • Book Sale, sponsored by the Spotswood Public Library, during regular hours, at the library, 548 Main St. Hardcover books, paperbacks, children’s books, audiocassettes, VHS videos. Paperbacks, 50 cents each or three for $1; hardcovers, 75 cents and up; VHS videos, $1. “All-You-Can-Carry for $5,” last two days of the event, Sept. 7 and 8. All sales final. • Organic Fertilizer and Cleaning-Material Sale, featuring chemical-free products, sponsored by the Lawrence Brook Watershed Partnership, 9 a.m. to noon, Saturdays ongoing, at the group’s headquarters building, 85 Washington Ave., Milltown. The nonprofit partnership, dedicated to the protection of the Lawrence Brook Watershed, encourages area residents to avoid the use of toxic lawn and garden products and cleaning liquids. • Bus Trip to Resorts Casino, Atlantic City, sponsored by the Sayreville War Memorial High School Band Parents Association. The bus departs at 10:30 a.m. from the school parking lot, Washington Road; return is at approximately 8:30 p.m. Cost is $28 per person, with $20 return in slot cash and $8 food voucher. Price includes coffee, bagels, snacks, bingo, movie on the bus. Proceeds benefit the Sayreville War Memorial High School Marching Band.
