Photos now accepted for Freehold SCD contest

Freehold Soil Conservation District (SCD) is sponsoring a photo contest for individuals who like to photograph subjects such as nature, landscapes, natural resources, agriculture, and individuals interacting with the environment, waterscapes or wildlife within Middlesex and Monmouth counties. Submission deadline is Sept. 17.

Entries should promote the beauty and uniqueness of the natural environments found in Middlesex and Monmouth counties. Prizes are $200, first place; $100, second place; and $75 for third place.

Photos must be taken by individuals age 18 and older in Middlesex or Monmouth County, and there is one entry per person. Subjects should depict the natural beauty, natural environment, agriculture, wildlife, landscapes or waterscapes unique to the area. Photo location, landmark, town or address should be included with entry. Photo sizes may be 8 by 10, or 8 by 12 inch, in color or black and white.

Society’s annual arts

and crafts fair Aug. 18

The Atlantic Highlands Historical Society will hold its annual arts and craft fair Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. its building at First Avenue, Atlantic Highlands (rain date Aug. 19).
