School district items of interest

   — Timberlane Middle School is offering incoming sixth-graders two opportunities to visit the school prior to the official start of the year. The first opportunity will be an open house on Aug. 30 from 9-10 a.m. Parents must accompany their children to the open house, which will begin in the cafeteria with a welcome by the principal. Parents and students will be given a map of the school and invited to visit key locations within the building.
The second orientation is for students only and will take place on Sept. 5 from 7:45-10:30 a.m. Students who will be riding the bus this year will be able to ride the bus to and from school. Once at school, students will meet their teachers, get to know their teammates, and walk through their schedule of classes.
”We hope both orientation experiences will help students feel confident and comfortable on Sept. 6, the first day of school,” a spokesman said.
Should parents have any questions prior to that date, contact the school office at 737-4004.
