FINANCIAL SERVICES
   WithumSmith+Brown, certified public accountants and consultants, announced the promotion of Princeton resident Josie Moore and Rebecca Rout, of Ewing, from staff accountant to semi-senior accountant. Both are located in the West Windsor office.
   WS+B is one of the largest regional accounting and consulting firms in the tri-state area with office locations in Cherry Hill, Morristown, New Brunswick, Princeton, Red Bank, Somerville and Toms River, New York, Philadelphia and Newtown, Pa.

   Klatzkin & Co. LLP, CPAs of Hamilton, has announced the following promotions in the firm: Kenneth Nicely, Chris Maynard and John Blake have been promoted to senior accountant. Mr. Nicely has been with the firm for three years, beginning as a staff accountant; Mr. Maynard started as an accounting intern and has been with the firm for two years; and Mr. Blake has been with the firm for three years.
   Promoted to supervisor are Michelle Robb, with the firm for seven years; Donna Dey, 19 years; Al Mueller, 19 years, Suzy Heller, seven years; and Frank Sweeney, one year.
   For more than 75 years, Klatzkin & Company LLP, has provided accounting, tax, auditing, business consulting, computer consulting, litigation, and personal financial management services to professional, industrial, and commercial clients. The company maintains offices in Mercer County, and Bucks County, Pa.
BROADCAST
   Lawrence resident Patricia Costante was elected first vice chair of the New Jersey Public Broadcasting Authority. The NJPBA is the operating authority of New Jersey Network, New Jersey’s public television and radio network. She has served on the board since 2006 and is in her second year as first vice chair. She also serves as the chairman of the board of trustees of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton.
   Ms. Costante serves as chairman and chief executive officer of MDAdvantage Insurance Co. of New Jersey, which provides medical professional liability insurance.
LAW
   Princeton resident Daniel F. Brent has been named an arbitrator of the Court for Arbitration of Sport. He is one of 20 American arbitrators selected to serve on the court, which is the organization with responsibility for settling legal disputes involving international sports. The court, established in 1984, is comprised of approximately 240 arbitrators from 80 countries, and is under the authority of the International Council for Arbitration of Sport in Switzerland.

   Richard M. Miller, a partner with the national law firm Fox Rothschild LLP, resident in the firm’s Lawrence office, has been named co-chair of the firm’s international business practice group. Cathryn A. Mitchell, also a partner in the firm and resident in the Lawrence office, has been named co-chair of the firm’s entertainment and sports industries practice group.
RESEARCH
   TRI/Princeton has announced the appointment of Dr. Trefor Evans as principal scientist in measurement science. Dr. Evans has a background in measurement science and hair chemistry.
   Most recently he served as a development manager in measurement science at Unilever, where he worked in thermal analysis, cosmetic formulation, and mechanical testing. He has knowledge of polymer and adsorption chemistry and product formulation and will work on TRI’s hair measurement capacities and provide the firm’s clients with market-forward approaches to hair testing and product development. Additionally, Dr. Evans hopes to use his experiences running an in-vitro hair testing laboratory and teaching on-site hair chemistry classes with TRI’s ongoing continuing education programs.
   TRI/Princeton was founded in 1930 as the Textile Research Institute to help the American textile industry stay competitive. Over the decades, TRI evolved into a full-service research and testing facility, specializing in hair, fibers, porous materials, polymers, and films. TRI is located in Princeton.

   Mathematica Policy Research Inc. recently named John Sullivan director of project management. He will oversee the corporate project management function for all locations, as well as direct staff in preparing budgets and business proposals. He joined Mathematica in 1997 as a project manager and was named manager of project support in 2001.
   Additionally, Susanne James-Burdumy, of Robbinsville, has been appointed associate director of human services research for the firm’s Lawrence office. She will be responsible for mentoring and supervising researchers in education, labor, welfare, early childhood, and nutrition policy studies.
   With Mathematica since 1999, she previously served as a senior researcher, responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of key education studies.
   Mathematica, a nonpartisan firm, conducts policy research and surveys for federal and state governments, foundations, and private-sector clients. The employee-owned company has offices in West Windsor, Washington, D.C., and Cambridge, Mass.
TECHNOLOGY
   Princeton resident, Dr. Fred Allen, was named chief executive officer for AlwaysReady Inc., a subsidiary of mPhase Technologies. AlwaysReady is engaged in the development of advanced energy storage devices and ultra sensitive magnetometers.
   AlwaysReady was created in April 2007 to create shareholder value in mPhase’s nanotechnology battery and MEMS based products.
   Dr. Allen is an author of over 35 publications and presentations and has 10 patents to his credit. He led the efforts of Englehard Corp. in a rechargeable lithium-ion battery materials program, as well as the company’s nanotechnology growth initiative that involved the pursuit of internal research and development leads.
   Most recently with his own consultancy, RADii Solutions LLC, Dr. Allen completed a term with a nanotechnology investment firm, Advance Nanotech, as senior vice president of materials. He has over 25 years of experience working at the nanometer scale as a materials scientist with a business perspective.
   Located in Little Falls, mPhase Technologies develops and commercializes entertainment software and nanotechnology solutions delivering systems to the marketplace that advance functionally and reduce costs.
