Edison’s 20th annual township Halloween parade and party will be held at the Minnie B. Veal Community Center, 1070 Grove Ave., Edison, Oct. 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The annual Colorful Costume Parade will begin the Halloween party at 11:30 a.m. Township children between the age of 2 and the sixth grade along with costumed parents are invited to participate. The parade, complete with a marching band, color guard, cheerleaders and antique cars, will proceed up Grove Avenue from New Dover Road to the Minnie B. Veal Community Center. All children must be preregistered for the event at the Stelton Community Center, 328 Plainfield Ave., or the Minnie B. Veal Community Center, by 4 p.m. Oct. 26.
Upon arriving at the Minnie B. Veal Community Center, all registered children will be able to visit the Enchanted Pumpkin Patch and Recreation Candyland and get a sneak peak at the haunted house before exiting with Halloween souvenirs. Pumpkin painting, sand art, crafters and food vendors will also be available throughout the day for a nominal fee. A DJ and Moonbounce will also be on site .
For the third year, there will be a fullscale 12-room haunted house put together by the Harry Blackstone Society of Magic with the help of the J.P. Stevens Drama Club; this may not be for the faint of heart.
The haunting will take place 7-9:30 p.m. Oct. 26 and 27. Veal and the Stelton Community Centers. Registration will conclude when all assigned times are filled. There will be a $2 (check only) donation ($4 w/séance) to the Blackstone Society upon registration. Checks must be made payable to “George Unbehauen, IBM #200.”
An adult must accompany children who are younger than sixth grade. Edison teens with valid Recreation identification will be admitted one time free (but must be preregistered).
