Felix Sgroi

Mr. Sgroi, 84, of Jackson, died Oct. 7, 2007, at Geraldine L. Thompson Care Center, Wall Township. He was born in New Brunswick and had lived in Wall Township before moving to Jackson in 1998. Prior to retiring in 1985, Mr. Sgroi was a mason and bricklayer with union Local No. 15, New Brunswick, for more than 50 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 370, New Brunswick, as well as a member of the American Legion’s Joyce Kilmer Post No. 25 in Milltown and Molly Pitcher Post No. 434 in Englishtown. In addition, Mr. Sgroi was a hunter and a deep-sea fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Sgroi; a son, James VanDerveer of Nazareth, Pa.; two daughters, Karen Raymond of Scotch Plains and Margaret Arling of Freehold; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & Mc- Girr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover. Christopher Steven Pinnola

Christopher Steven Pinnola, 2, of Manalapan, died Oct. 13, 2007. He was born at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Christopher was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Edward Gregory. Surviving are his parents, Carolyn and Steven Pinnola; two sisters, Ashley and Valerie; his maternal grandmother, Marguerite Gregory of Marlboro; his paternal grandparents, Anita and Joseph Pinnola of Staten Island, N.Y.; and eight aunts and uncles. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township, followed by interment. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Make- A-Wish Foundation, 1034 Salem Road, Union, NJ 07083-7058.

Clyde Lawrence Boyce

Mr. Boyce, 65, of Marlboro, died Oct. 9, 2007, at St. Michael’s Medical Center, Newark. Born in Colts Neck, he was a lifelong resident of Marlboro and a graduate of Freehold High School, Freehold Borough. Prior to retiring in 2004, Mr. Boyce worked for the Marlboro Township Road Department for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He was a member of Robertsville Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, Morganville section of Marlboro, for the past 28 years, where he had previously served as a commissioner and a lieutenant. He was also a deputy district warden of the N.J. Forest Fire Service, Section 10, for more than 20 years. In addition, he was a member of the Deep Search Metal Detecting Club of East Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Shirley; a son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Wendy Boyce of Morganville; a daughter, Dawn Boyce of Englishtown and her companion, Steve Forgus; three brothers and their wives; Allen and Margaret Boyce of Howell, William and Joanne Boyce of Underhill, Vt., and Brett and Christine Boyce of Marlboro; and a sister and her husband, Sandi and Henry Daugherty of Canterbury, N.H. A funeral service was held at Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Elaine M. Cupo

Mrs. Cupo, 63, of Jackson, died Oct. 10, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born and raised in Manhattan, N.Y., she had lived in the Stapleton section of Staten Island, N.Y., before moving to Freehold Township in 1975. She relocated to Jackson in 2006. Mrs. Cupo was a Realtor with ERA Advantage Realty, Freehold Township, for the past 20 years and also coowned Monmouth Gymnastics Academy, Morganville section of Marlboro, with her daughter. Prior to that, she was a registered nurse for the Monmouth County Organization for Social Service (or MCOSS, now the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey), Freehold and Red Bank, and had worked as a legal secretary in Staten Island. Mrs. Cupo was a volunteer for Relay for Life, Freehold. She was predeceased in April 1994 by her husband, Nicholas J. Cupo Jr., and in 1981 by her mother, Mercedes Febles. Surviving are a daughter, Karen Bianchino of Jackson; her father and his wife, Charles and Joan Febles of Toms River; a niece, Tara Cupo of Howell; and three grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. Interment was private.
