EDITORIAL: Princeton Twp, Boro endorsements

PRINCETON PACKET EDITORIAL
On the Nov. 6 ballot in Princeton Township, two Democratic incumbents, Phyllis Marchand and Lance Liverman, are being challenged by Republicans Cindy Randazzo and Esther Mills in a race for two committee seats.
Ms. Marchand, who is also the township’s mayor, and Mr. Liverman have been endorsed in the past by The Packet and we endorse them once again, based on the quality of their service and commitment to the community.
But Mayor Marchand, Mr. Liverman and their Democratic colleagues on the Township Committee should take full measure of the quality of political opposition and quantity of political discontent in Princeton this year. Ms. Randazzo and Ms. Mills are serious, well-qualified candidates, waging a diligent, thoughtful campaign. They are connecting with voters frustrated by the expense and disharmony of Princeton’s bickering municipalities.
The Borough of Princeton has a council race between two Democratic incumbents, Roger Martindell and Andrew Koontz, and two Republicans, Linda Sipprelle and Joseph Codega.
Ms. Sipprelle has demonstrated herself to be a qualified, conscientious challenger.
But the merit of continuing Mr. Martindell and Mr. Koontz on the borough council has, if anything, been enhanced by their willingness to break ranks with their Democratic colleagues on the borough’s ineffectual and closeted negotiations with downtown developer NHKT. We endorse them both.
