Joseph Battaglia

Mr. Battaglia, 94, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, died Oct. 15, 2007, at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York City. He was born in Reggio di Calabria, Italy, and had lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., and then in Freehold before moving to Morganville. Prior to retiring in 1983, Mr. Battaglia was a painter in Roselle. He was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. He was predeceased by his wife, Esther, in 2002. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Gerri Battaglia of Edison, and John and Patricia Battaglia of Morganville; a daughter, Ann Marie Pipta of Manalapan; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren, including Giavanna and Sophia of Freehold. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, followed by interment at St. Gabriel’s Mausoleum, Marlboro. Freeman Manalapan- Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
