Nellie Stovall

Mrs. Stovall, 92, of Freehold, died Oct. 20, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was known to everyone as “Aunt Sue.” Born in Richmond, Va., she had resided in Red Bank before moving to Freehold in 1938. She was a domestic worker prior to retiring and had previously been employed by Marlboro State Hospital. She was a longtime member of New Beginnings Agape Christian Center in Freehold, formerly the Second Baptist Church, where she served on the usher board for more than 25 years. Mrs. Stovall was predeceased in 1979 by her husband, Alfonza Stovall, and in 1970 by a daughter, Lillie Mae Cooper. Surviving are an adopted daughter, Ella Stroud of Spring Lake; an uncle, Lester Robinson of Virginia Beach, Va.; four grandchildren, Kenneth Ronald Stroud Jr. of Lakewood, Kimberly L. Stroud of Freehold, and Daliah and Gregory Stroud, both of Spring Lake; and a niece and three nephews. Funeral services were held at New Beginnings Agape Christian Center, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
