Amalia P. Tsakiris

Mrs. Tsakiris, 90, of Long Branch, died Oct. 31, 2007, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Itea, Greece, she moved to the United States in 1939, and resided in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., before relocating to Long Branch 62 years ago. She co-owned with her husband, Peter’s Restaurant, Asbury Park, for 20 years. She was a member of and sang in the choir at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Asbury Park. She was a member and past president of the Philoptochos Society at the church. She was also a member of the Daughters of Penelope. She was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1966; and seven siblings. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Eleutheria and the Rev. Demetrius T. Dogias of Honolulu; two sons and one daughter-in-law, John and Mary Tsakiris of Rumson; and Louis Tsakiris of Monmouth Beach; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral service was at St. George’s Church. Interment was at St. George Greek Orthodox Cemetery, Neptune. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch.
