Mr. Lieberman, 79, of Chadds Ford, Pa., died Nov. 5, 2007, at home. Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Chadds Ford for the past eight years and in Freehold for 25 years, coaching his sons in the Freehold Township Little League for 15 years. He had also resided in Blacksburg, Va. Mr. Lieberman was a firefighter with the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) for 31 years and had previously worked for the New York City Police Department. After retiring as captain of the FDNY, he took classes at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in Blacksburg. Mr. Lieberman was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a master gardener. Surviving are his wife, Harlene Thomas Lieberman; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Jay M. and Suzanne Lieberman of Irvine, Calif., Michael Lieberman of Aston, Pa., and Brian Lieberman of Farmington Hills, Mich.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marla Lieberman of San Francisco, Robin and Ralph Meister of Hackettstown, and Barbara and Brian McGrath of Glen Mills, Pa.; and five grandchildren. Memorial services were held at Pagano Funeral Home, Garnet Valley, Pa. Interment was private.
