Mildred “Millie” L. Dougherty

Mrs. Dougherty, 83, of Freehold, died Dec. 31, 2007. Born in East Boston on Sept. 1, 1924, she had lived in Port Washington, N.Y., and Brewer,Maine, before moving toMorris Plains. She moved to Colts Neck in 1961 and then to Freehold in 1974.Mrs. Dougherty was an operator for the New England Telephone Co. prior to starting a family. She later retired as a bank teller from Investors Savings Bank, Freehold Township. She was a member of Catholic Daughters Court of St. Mary’s, Colts Neck, for many years. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law,Michael Dougherty of Eddington, Maine, and Daniel and Peggy Dougherty of Sebastian, Fla.; two daughters and a son-inlaw, Debi and Bob McCarthy of Howell, and Donna Dougherty of Freehold; two sisters, Marie and Margaret; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
