Portion of Port Au Peck Ave. will be repaved

OCEANPORT – The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) awarded $160,000 to the borough Dec. 27 for improvements to Port Au Peck Avenue.

The borough will use the grant funds for road improvements on Port Au Peck between Branchport and Myrtle avenues.

According to Borough Clerk Kim Jungfer, that section of Port-Au-Peck Avenue will be repaved. She added that whether or not drainage work should be done will be decided after the engineer compiles a report on the site.

The funding was part of $78.7 million awarded in municipal aid to fund street improvement, rehabilitation, and safety projects in 438 New Jersey towns, according to a press release from the DOT.

The grant program covers a variety of projects including road resurfacing, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and signalization. It is directly funded by the Transportation Trust Fund and is allotted to each town based on field investigations and engineering evaluations of proposed projects.
