OCEAN TOWNSHIP – A 17-year-old townshipmale is facing charges for shooting another teenagerwith a pellet gun, according to police reports.
On Jan. 25 at approximately 9 p.m. Ocean Township police received a report from Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch that a 17-year-old male was being treated at the hospital for a leg wound after being shot by a pellet gun, according to police reports.
Upon investigation into the incident, police learned that the victim was an Ocean Township resident who was attending a birthday party at a friend’s house on Jerome Avenue, according to reports.
Another attendee of the party was reportedly playing with an air-propelled pellet rifle inside the home and became careless with the gun and shot the victim in the leg, according to reports.
The pellet was lodged in the victim’s leg and the teen requiredmedical treatment, according to reports.
The 17-year-old accused in the incident was arrested later that day and chargedwith aggravated assault and possession of a weapon, according to police reports.
He was later released to his parents, police said.
