LPS has efficient budget

Caren Franzini of Lambertville
March 20, I attended the Lambertville Public School’s public budget hearing.
I want to give the school board and administration tremendous credit for presenting a comprehensive and well-thought-out overview of the school’s philosophy to be an innovative school, their curriculum and instructional focus and their commitment for excellence in their teaching program.
They reviewed the school revenues and expenses in a clear and concise manner. Finally, they summarized their proactive work to share resources with our neighboring West Amwell school district.
These two districts are role models of how to efficiently run smaller districts by sharing in the costs for our very dedicated, resourceful and committed Superintendent Dr. Fay.
They also presented sharing a business administrator for the 2008-09 school year.
In addition, the districts have entered into other shared services with a new power curriculum, child study teams, preschool program and bulk purchasing.
If you were unable to attend the hearing and want to learn more about the budget, I encourage you to obtain copies of the presentation from the school and remember to vote on Election Day from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 15.
