Metuchen will hold its 81st Memorial Day parade onMemorial Day,May 26. The parade will begin at 10 a.m., rain or shine, at Pearl Street parking lot. It will end at Memorial Park with a brief ceremony, featuring keynote speaker Capt. Frederic Primich, Medical Corps of the U.S. Naval Reserve. The Rev. Mark McCreary of Second Baptist Church of Metuchen and Col. David Forden, chaplain of Fort Dix, will also contribute to the ceremony.
In addition, Metuchen High School junior Dana Pineiro will perform “America the Beautiful”; she will be joined by her classmate Genna Rivera in singing the national anthem.
Memorial Day in Metuchen honors the lives of the 41 Metuchen men who sacrificed their lives in our nation’s wars. The Memorial Day Parade Committee invites all veterans, community groups, Scouts and youth groups.
