Margaret C. Ferry

   Margaret “Marge” C. Ferry, 82, of Pennington died Friday at the Lawrenceville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation.
   Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong area resident. She was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Pennington.
   She began her career as a physical education teacher at Lawrence Junior High School, then a new school that had yet to develop a physical education program. As the only gym teacher at the school, she coached all the girls’ teams and the cheerleading squad. Later she taught communication skills and social studies at Lawrence Middle School. She was one of the first in Lawrence schools to be awarded the New Jersey Teacher of the Year Award.
   Founder of the Lawrence Players, Inc., she was a member of NJEA, NEA, MCREA, Gamma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Trenton College Club, and The Torch Club. She also was a volunteer at Soroptimist International of Trenton, delivered meals on wheels to shut-ins in the Trenton area, was a member of People to People International, and was a charter member of the Boheme Opera Guild.
   Daughter of the late Henry S. and Catherine E. Reed Ferry and sister of the late May Ferry, she is survived by a special friend, Mary Nicola Ferri of Pennington; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeanne T. and Thomas Poole of Waretown, Barbara A. Teresczcyn of Monroe Township, Rose and Andrew Butchko of the Villages in Florida, and Kay Carter of West Windsor; several nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
   A Memorial Mass will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 115 E. Delaware Ave., Pennington. Interment will be private in Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum, Hamilton.
