In an effort to raise funds for Alex’s Lemonade Stand, an organization that donates its proceeds to children with cancer and the hospitals that help them, Rebekah Makin and Saige Grant, both sixth-graders at Hammarskjold Middle School, East Brunswick, will sponsor a fundraiser on June 8 at Lexington Downs Center, 3 Lexington Ave., East Brunswick.
The event, which will feature a lemonade stand and other stations including a book sale, raffle items and games, will be held in conjunction with the nationalAlex’s Lemonade Stand days.
Rebekah, age 12, and Saige, 11, will use the fundraiser to honor their friend, Tara Stout of East Brunswick, who passed away in September 2007 after a battle with leukemia.
Hot-pink collection boxes have been set up at various local businesses including East Brunswick Curves, Spa Blisstique, Bagel Giant, Scala’s Barbershop, East Brunswick Chinese and Taverna’s Pizza.
