Give blood for Mets tickets June 5

Edison Township Department of Health and Senior Services will be conducting a blood drive 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. June 5 at the Municipal Building, Council Chambers, 100 Municipal Blvd.

Every donor will receive two free tickets for a Mets game. Call 1-800-933- BLOOD to schedule an appointment. Walk-in donors are also welcome.

Qualified donors should be 17 years of age, weigh 110 pounds and be in generally good health. Donors must present photo or signed ID and know their Social Security number. Seniors over 75 years of age who have a physician’s note may also donate.

NJBS says there is a critical need for blood because area hospitals are operating at a 15 percent deficit in their blood supply. More than 70,000 units of blood had to be imported from other U.S. blood centers to meet local hospital patients’ needs. Currently there is a shortage of O negative and B negative blood types.

To make an appointment to donate blood or to inquire about medical eligibility, call 1-800-933-BLOOD (2566).
