Central High holds commencement tonight

Gates open at 5 p.m. There will be a band concert at 5:30 p.m. followed by graduation at 6 p.m.

   The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2008 of Hopewell Valley Central High School is set for 6 o’clock sharp tonight, June 19.
   The event will be held on the lacrosse field behind the high school, which is on the northern side of Pennington-Titusville Road, just west of Route 31.
   The gates will open at 5 p.m. There will be a band concert at 5:30 p.m.
   In the event of rain, the commencement will be held in the school gymnasium. Each graduating senior has been given two red tickets, for use if the ceremony is held in the gym. All other family members and friends will be able to view the ceremony live on screens in the high school auditorium, cafeteria and media center.
   Graduation events will be broadcast live on HV-TV Channel 19 (Comcast) and Channel 32 (Verizon). The broadcast will begin at 6 p.m. Rebroadcasts will be scheduled through the end of June and into July.
   THE CEREMONY is expected to include: “The Star-Spangled Banner,” performed by Charlotte Pashley and Megan Templon, followed by a welcome from Rosemary F. Rarich, class president, and David N. Primer, vice president.
   The Student Address will be given by Max J. Orland.
   ”Stand by Me” will be performed by Lisa A. Colasanti, Amanda M. Ely, John K. Hallinger, Whitney N. Harding, Adelena R. Klett, Sophie Krasucki, Sarah Krauss, Madeline S. Lazer, Joshua B. Max, Megan M. McDonough, Carey E. McDougall, Emily Miele, Thomas J. Muehleisen, Tiffany A. Olszuk, Max J. Orland, Emily K. Ottinger, Katelyn L. Painter, Charlotte R. Pashley, Victoria G. Potucek, Rosemary F. Rarich, Jordan C. Rowan, Thomas R. Seabrook, Monica A. Shapiro, Jonathan Tello, Megan Templon, Gabriella G. B. Tetelman, Kristin M. Travagline and John R. Wuethrich II.
   Dr. Ida Marie Chiaradia, vice principal, will officiate at the Medal Ceremony.
   The Valedictorian’s Address will be given by Manishika Agaskar.
   A mayor’s proclamation will be read by Hopewell Township Deputy Mayor John Murphy.
   Others taking part in the ceremony will be school board President Linda J. Mitchell, CHS Principal Michael B. Daher and schools Superintendent Dr. Judith A. Ferguson
   Diplomas will be presented by Dr. Chiaradia, CHS Vice Principal Lyndell K. Davis, Mrs. Mitchell, board Vice President Mel H. Myers, and Class of 2008 advisors, Lisa Cardinale and Nicole Dolan.
   Hopewell Valley Chamber Singers will perform “The Song of Purple Summer.”
   And Class President Rarich will officiate at the Turning of the Tassel ceremony.
