Vera Ciavaglia repeated last year’s triumph at the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs with her “Fantasy Fudge” cake by receiving top honors at the clubs’ annual convention in Atlantic City. Her baking prowess continued as she picked up Grand Ribbons for her yeast coffee cake and coconut pecan cream cake in this year’s competition held at Trump Plaza. Ciavaglia’s delectable creations edged out 16 other competitors. Winning top honors is not new for the resident of Seabrook in Tinton Falls. She has won nearly 100 first-place blue-ribbon prizes for her various baked goods during approximately 40 years, which is the length of time that she has competed in the state federation contests.
