Dolores M. (Cronin) Schauer, 75, of Monroe, died Wednesday, June 25, at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold.
Born in Paterson, she lived in the Borough of Totowa before moving to Monroe in 1962. She worked for 32 years for Monroe, first as secretary to the chief of police then as assistant tax collector before achieving the position of tax collector in 1992. She received all of her required professional certificates from Rutgers University. Previously, she worked for Prudential Insurance Co., Newark.
In addition to her first love, her seven grandchildren, the thing she enjoyed most was frequent trips to Atlantic City and the lasting friendships she made there. She also enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Spotswood.
Her husband, John H. Jr., died in 1972. Her sister, Ruth Matthews, died in 1991. She is survived by three sons, Keith J. Sr. and his fiancée, Chris Mychalchyk, of Manalapan, Robert J. and his wife, Lynne, of Monroe, and Scott T. and his wife, Ellen, of Colts Neck; and her seven grandchildren, Keith Jr., John, Emily, Ryan, Conor, Gemma and Aidan.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 28, at 8:45 a.m. from M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Spotswood. Interment will follow in Fernwood Cemetery, Jamesburg. Visitation will be today (Friday), June 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oncology Unit, care of CentraState Health Care Foundation, 916 Route 33, Suite 6, Freehold, N.J. 07728. <</p>
