PRINCETON — Police said Friday that they are looking for a man who allegedly entered a residence on Cedar Lane and assaulted an 18-year-old female occupant of that residence at 11:55 a.m. June 20.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s who is 5’9”, between 180 and 200 pounds and has a stocky build. He has dark hair, dark eyes and an olive to tan complexion. He was wearing a white tee-shirt and blue jeans on the day of the incident.
The victim said the suspect knocked on the door and asked if the homeowner was home, police said. When she said no, the suspect entered the house and sexually assaulted the victim by putting his hand in her pants, police said. After the victim struggled to get away, the suspect punched the victim in the face and ran out the front door.
The victim was transported by Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad to the University Medical Center at Princeton, where she was treated for injury and released.
Det. Benjamin Gering of the Princeton Township Police and Det. Eric Hastings of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the incident.
Police released a composite drawing of the suspect and a press release on the incident on Friday.
Anyone with information regarding the incident or suspects is encouraged to call Det. Gering at 609-921-2100, ext. 840 or the Confidential Tip Line at 609-688-2049.
Explaining the timing of Friday’s announcement, Princeton Township Police Sgt. Ernie Silagyi said, “We thought it was inappropriate to release information to the community before we reviewed follow-up interviews that would define the nature and the extent of the alleged offense.”
