AAUW is offering scholarships to women

Applications are being accepted for $2,000 scholarships being offered by the Freehold Area Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). The Freehold Area Branch awards the Lew Williams and the Leila Sulkes Scholarships to women returning to college after an interruption in school attendance of at least one year. The scholarships are for female students at least 25 years old. Applicants must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program and have completed at least one semester and maintained at least a B average. All applicants must be residents of Western Monmouth County, but don’t have to be members of the AAUW. Applications can be requested by e-mail at scholarships08@ verizon.net or by mail at Freehold Area AAUW Scholarships P.O. Box 6302, Freehold 07728. Applications will be mailed upon request through June 1. Completed applications, transcripts and letters of recommendation must be postmarked by June 15. The winner will be introduced at the September 2008 meeting of the Freehold Area Branch of the AAUW and presented with the check.
