EDISON — Authorities have apprehended a pair of individuals suspected of being involved in a July 21 bank robbery on Thornall Road in Edison.
According to a statement from the FBI, Milik Dillard, 25, from Georgia, was charged with the robbery of a PNC Bank on July 21, along with Ciara Moore, Bronx, N.Y., who was in the car with Dillard when he was finally arrested. Dillard is facing a federal bank robbery charge, while Moore is being charged by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office with conspiracy to commit robbery.
Bryan Travers, acting media coordinator with the FBI, said that Dillard and Moore were probably boyfriend and girlfriend.
The statement says that Dillard entered the PNC Bank in the early afternoon, around 1:22 p.m. He allegedly jumped over the counter and began demanding money from the tellers. The statement said that no weapons were used in the robbery and also that no one was hurt. Dillard made off with an undisclosed amount of money and then fled the scene in a vehicle.
Later that day, the vehicle was stopped by law enforcement officers while on the New Jersey Turnpike, close to the George Washington Bridge. During this stop, Dillard and Moore were arrested. After his arrest, Dillard was found to be wanted in connection to several other robberies along the East Coast.
Special Agent in Charge Weysan Dun thanked the U.S. Marshals Service, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, the Edison Police Department and the New Jersey State Police for their assistance in this matter. The case is being prosecuted by assistant U.S. Attorney Doug Herring of the Criminal Division in Newark.
