Future of Marlboro to be discussed at Aug. 12 meeting

On June 5, the Marlboro Township Council approved a resolution to establish a Plan Endorsement Citizens Advisory Committee in compliance with New Jersey State Plan Endorsement Guidelines and State Planning Rules. But the work does not stop there.

The creation of the advisory committee is just one step in a process designed by the New Jersey Office of Smart Growth to create a better future for local municipalities. Involvement is not limited to local officials, but extends to the community in a way unprecedented during town planning in the past.

Armed with a Smart Future Award from the state Department of Community Affairs, Marlboro will move forward with these funds to create a Community Vision Plan.

As the guidelines permit, community involvement in developing a vision for the future of Marlboro is not just requested, it is required for continued cooperation and assistance from related state agencies.

Information is available on the township’s Internet Web site, but input from concerned citizens of Marlboro is a vital part of the equation.

This is the time to add your voice to the dialogue for smart growth. Town Hall meetings are being held with the next meeting scheduled for Aug. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Marlboro municipal courtroom.

This is an exciting and until now rare opportunity to shape the future of our town where the needs of your families, children, neighborhoods, schools, activities, history and environment are all part of the discussion. Come equipped with your views and see you in Town Hall.
