CANDIDATE’S LETTER: Keith Hovey (D)

Candidate for Montgomery Township Committee
We choose to live in Montgomery because of its top-rated schools, the amount of preserved open space, and a smart approach to redevelopment. Yet Montgomery is not immune to the problems of suburban sprawl, traffic congestion, tax increases, and ongoing threats to our way of life. As Montgomery moves forward with the redevelopment of Skillman Village and the Montgomery Promenade, it is important that we have leaders with the professional background and skills to oversee these projects.
As an attorney working in areas of redevelopment and real estate litigation, and a current member of the Board of Health, I believe I am well qualified to face these important issues on behalf of Montgomery’s citizens. My legal background provides me with a fundamental understanding of the ever-changing area of redevelopment law, while my Board of Health service has given me insight into the health needs of a growing community — from sewer systems to emergency response planning. This experience provides me with a unique understanding of the complex challenges facing our community.
As Skillman Village and The Promenade proceed, we must ensure that these projects improve the quality of life of all Montgomery residents by minimizing the tax burden, preserving additional open space, reducing traffic problems, and creating safe and walkable areas.
Montgomery already has benefited from the dedication and commitment of its residents to our community. Recently, we have witnessed a tremendous increase in voter registration and community involvement. Now, more than ever, Montgomery has the ability to tap into an even greater pool of talent among our residents, to provide new ideas and help forge a community consensus on the important issues facing our town.
With your support and your input, I know that we will make the best of these opportunities and, together, preserve the way of life that makes Montgomery the place we all want to live.
Keith Hovey, Democrat
for Township Committee,
