The Breeding Blue Heron" by Jane F. Johnson of Red Bank The Breeding Blue Heron” by Jane F. Johnson of Red Bank Anew exhibition at the Monmouth Museum explores traditional and contemporary works in fiber.

“Fabulous Fiber” will be on view through Sept. 21. Juried by award-winning fiber artists Joanie San Chirico and Geraldine Velasquez, this exhibition features artwork that represents unique approaches within the media of fiber and demonstrates diversity in contemporary fiber art.

San Chirico is a full-time studio artist and has exhibited extensively throughout the country. Her work incorporates photography, paint, stitching and textiles and is included in many public and private collections in the United States and Europe.

Velasquez is an artist, educator, author, researcher and photographer. She is currently a professor of art and design and former chairwoman of the Art Department at Georgian Court University in Lakewood. She is an expert in contemporary American crafts and teaches surface design. Velasquez has curated exhibitions for AT&T, Bristol-Myers Squibb, the LBI Foundation for the Arts and Sciences, The Gallery at Georgian Court and the Monmouth Museum.

"Camouflage" by Wei-Hui-Hsu “Camouflage” by Wei-Hui-Hsu The Monmouth Museum is located on the Brookdale Community College campus, Newman Springs Road, in Lincroft. The Main Gallery and Nilson Gallery are open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is $7; members, Brookdale staff and students with a valid identification, and children under 2 are admitted free of charge.
