The Metuchen-Edison Historical Society kicks off its fall series of historical programs with “A History of the First Baptist Church of Metuchen” on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m. at the church, 225 Middlesex Ave. (Route 27), Metuchen.
Church historian Marilyn Langholff will lead a presentation that will include people sharing memories of the church and displays of church documents, some over 100 years old.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the organizing of the First Baptist Church of Metuchen. The church moved into its original building in Metuchen in 1911 and then to the current church building in 1965.
There is no charge for the historic program, and refreshments will be served.
