JACKSON — Police officers responding to a burglar alarm arrested two individuals at a township business.
Jackson police Capt. David Newman said in a press release that on Sept. 16 at 2:17 a.m., officers responded to a burglar alarm that was activated at Spring Auto Wreckers, 528 Cerrina Drive.
While checking the building, which houses an office and a customer service area, officers Michael Bollard, Javaier Delatorre and Mitch Kafton discovered a window that appeared to have been pried open, according to the press release.
Newman said the officers went into the building and discovered that a cash register had been entered and money was missing. A search of the grounds revealed no suspects at that time.
Delatorre then canvassed the area to look for two suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts, after a resident walking in the area observed the pair just after the business’ audible alarm had sounded, police said.
During his search, Delatorre came upon a Pontiac Grand Prix parked on Rococco Court, which is in the immediate vicinity of Cerrina Drive. Police said the vehicle was occupied by Ashley Hall, 19, of Toms River, and Allison Dougherty, 18, of Toms River.
An investigation revealed that Hall and Dougherty were alleged accomplices in the burglary. Each individual was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, issued a summons and released.
Two male suspects were found at about 7:55 a.m. Sept. 16 as they were walking on Leesville Road.
Officers John Rodriguez and Mitch Kafton arrested Michael Eoff, 24, of Toms River, and Orville Hardy III, 26, of Newville, Pa. Eoff and Hardy were each charged with burglary, theft and conspiracy.
Bail was set at $35,000 for Hardy and at $25,000 for Eoff. Both men defaulted on bail and were lodged in the Ocean County jail, Toms River.
Detective Scott Conover and Detective Shawn Hobson assisted in the investigation.
