Conference on social work, veterans Oct. 3

Monmouth University, 400 Cedar Ave., West Long Branch, will host the conference “Coming Home: Social Work’s Responsibility to Returning Combat Veterans and Their Families,” 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 3 at Wilson Hall auditorium.

The free conference sponsored by the school of social work is for elected officials, community agencies, private practice social workers, and drug and alcohol treatment social workers. Keynote speaker will be Major Gen. James Williams who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and is Commanding General, 4th Marine Division. The Division is the largest infantry division in the U.S. military. Other experts will also speak, and during the afternoon participants will discuss possible actions the school of social work can take to help returning combat veterans and families.
