Mr. McNeil, 68, of the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen, died Sept. 12, 2008, at home. He resided in Hazlet for 30 years before relocating to Cliffwood 13 years ago. He was a postal worker at the U.S. Postal Service, Shrewsbury, for 34 years, retiring in 1992. During retirement, he was a crossing guard for Aberdeen Township schools and a delivery person for the Star-Ledger. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald McNeil, in 2005. He is survived by his wife, Julie Mayer McNeil; two sons, Thomas McNeil of Somerset and Timothy McNeil of Toms River; four sisters, Carol Flynn of Matthews, N.C., Judith Shackleton of Clark, Linda Morrow of Toms River, and Deborah McNeil of Rahway; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment with military honors was at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown section of North Hanover Township. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
